The federal government shutdown came to an end on Wednesday night.
The record 43-day shutdown caused flight cancellations, a delay to SNAP benefits, furloughs for federal workers and much financial stress.
Democrats had been holding out on reopening the government to secure Affordable Care Act tax credits in an effort to keep health care affordable. Republicans said they will vote on the tax credits at a later date, but there is no guarantee it will happen.
The House passed the measure, funding three annual spending bills, 222-209.
Government funding will extend through Jan. 30, with funding for SNAP restored and no additional federal worker layoffs.
