A federal court on Monday rejected the Trump administration’s attempt to slow refunds of billions of dollars’ worth of tariffs, the Associated Press reported.
The Supreme Court struck down the tariffs as illegal last month.
According to the report, the Justice Department made a court filing on Friday to hold off on tariff refunds for 90 days.
The government had collected more than $130 billion from the tariffs by mid-December, and may need to pay back $175 billion, according to calculations by the Penn Wharton Budget Model.
