For the first time in the history of the Wisconsin Family Business of the Year Awards, all three Grand Award winners were from the Madison area. Congratulations go to State Collection Service, Madison (200+ employees), a collection agency; Automation Components, Inc., Middleton (100-199 employees), a manufacturer of performance sensors for the HVAC industry; and Michael F. Simon Builders, Inc., Waunakee (under 100 employees), a new-home construction business.
Six companies from around the state received Special Awards. They were:

Professional Construction, Inc., Waukesha
S&L Companies, Portage
The 11th annual program was held on May 1 at the Marriott Madison West in Madison, and winners were selected from a pool of 19 nominations by an independent panel of judges. The awards celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of family businesses that make an impact on their local communities and on Wisconsin’s economy. The Wisconsin Family Business of the Year Awards are sponsored by Smith & Gesteland, First Business Bank, and Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek.
