As 11 orthopedic surgeons leave SSM Health to start an independent practice, patient appointments and surgeries have been canceled, according to a Wisconsin State Journalreport. The surgeon group asked the SSM Health CEOs in Madison, Janesville, and Baraboo for a “patient care continuity” agreement by Nov. 15 but it appears that no agreement was reached. At least some of the surgeons have left this month instead of at the end of the year as originally planned, causing the canceled appointments and surgeries. The orthopedic surgeons’ new practice is scheduled to open in January.
