Madison’s Exact Sciences reported “strong performance” results for its Oncodetect cancer test in detecting disease and predicting recurrence, according to WisBusiness. The test works to identify changes in DNA taken from patient tumors to help direct cancer therapy decisions and monitor the potential for cancer recurrence.
A recent study found that Oncodetect had 78% sensitivity post-surgery and 91% sensitivity during the surveillance monitoring period — indicating that the test can successfully identify molecular residual disease (MRD), the tumor DNA left over following cancer treatment. Internal estimates at the diagnostics company show that 3 million people in the U.S. could benefit from testing for MRD.
Full findings from the study of patients with colon cancer will be published later this week. Oncodetect is expected to launch in the second quarter of 2025.
