Madison’s Exact Sciences received approval of its colorectal blood test through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Molecular Diagnostic Services Program, the company announced. .
The Oncodetect molecular residual disease test works to better track cancer DNA in the blood stream and is designed for use in patients with stage II, III and some stage IV colorectal cancer and in recurrence monitoring settings for a five-year period.
The approval represents another key milestone for the company, making 3 million Americans eligible for the test, which aims to provide earlier detection and direct more personalized care.
Exact Sciences’ best known product is Cologuard, a non-invasive colorectal cancer screening test.
