Gov. Tony Evers, together with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), announced that the next cycle of funding from the Biden-Harris Administration’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) will provide more than $200 million for over 150 local road and bridge improvement projects in counties across Wisconsin. WisDOT will administer the funding to local communities through the Surface Transportation Program (STP).
WisDOT’s STP allocates federal funds to complete a variety of improvements to federal-aid-eligible roadways in rural or urban areas. The Local Bridge Improvement Assistance Program distributes federal and state funds to help local governments rehabilitate and replace the most seriously deficient existing federal-aid-eligible local structures on Wisconsin’s local highway systems.
The funding allocation by program for federal fiscal years 2025–2029 includes:

Local bridge — 98 approved projects awarded $93,635,897 in total federal funding;

STP–rural — 26 approved projects awarded $65,432,529 in total federal funding;

STP–urban (population 5,000–20,000) — 11 approved projects awarded $13,511,523 in total federal funding;

STP–urban (population 20,000–50,000) — 6 approved projects awarded $8,976,266 in total federal funding; and
-
STP–local — 12 approved projects awarded $18,001,424 in total federal funding.
