Gov. Tony Evers is once again urging Donald Trump’s administration to restore funding to prevent fraud in Wisconsin’s unemployment insurance system.
The latest Evers letter is the fourth request for the restoration of funds. The money would be used to modernize the system to help detect and prevent fraud.
There is approximately $29 million in federal grant funding that needs to be restored to Wisconsin.
Evers began the move to modernize the unemployment insurance system after the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the update began, Wisconsin’s unemployment insurance program has been audited nine times over three years, with zero instances of previously undiscovered fraud.
