The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) announced its support of Gov. Tony Evers’ plan to invest an additional $600 million to support Wisconsin’s struggling small businesses. According to NFIB’s Research Center, 13% of small businesses surveyed report they will be forced to close their doors if economic conditions do not improve over the next six months. Additionally, while some small business economic indicators seem to show some improvement, NFIB’s research shows only 35% of the owners are back or nearly back to where they were with sales between 76–100% of levels in 2019. NFIB stated that additional resources and flexibility are needed to ensure a successful statewide recovery.
