Gov. Tony Evers today released an open letter to Congressional Republicans, including Republican members of Wisconsin’s congressional delegation, urging them to take action against President Trump and the Trump administration’s decisions and efforts, which Evers says are eroding constitutional checks and balances, and attacking federal programs and workers.

The governor’s letter comes in the midst of ongoing Republican efforts to cut federal funding in a variety of areas. Trump’s 25% tariff on goods from Mexico and Canada went into effect this week and is expected to cause rising costs on everyday goods like gas and groceries; harm relationships with U.S. trade partners; and spark a trade war that will negatively impact some of Wisconsin’s largest industries, like agriculture and manufacturing.
