Gov. Tony Evers on Tuesday filed a motion to intervene in a lawsuit before the Wisconsin Supreme Court challenging the state’s current legislative maps, according to a recent press release.
Gov. Evers, represented by Attorney General Josh Kaul, filed a motion to become a party in the legislative redistricting litigation pending before the Wisconsin Supreme Court, 2023AP1399-OA. The motion explains the governor is a proper party in reapportionment matters, and his intervention is warranted in this case.
In its Oct. 6 order accepting jurisdiction, the Wisconsin Supreme Court required additional parties to move for intervention by Oct. 10.
