Gov. Tony Evers on Monday announced his appointment of Stephanie Hilton to the Dane County Circuit Court, Branch 8. The appointment will fill the vacancy created by Frank D. Remington’s retirement. Hilton will complete a term ending July 31, 2026.

Since 2020, Hilton has been an assistant attorney general at the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ), where she co-leads the Wisconsin Sexual Assault Kit Initiative and has co-chaired jury trials involving multiple felony count sexual assault charges.

Hilton’s previous experience includes work in both the legislative and executive branches of government, as well as five years as an assistant district attorney — first in La Crosse County and then in Dane County. During this time, she was the lead prosecutor on multiple felony jury trials, including child abuse, domestic violence, homicide and sexual assault.
