Gov. Tony Evers announced the creation of 14 new occupational pathways that local employers can support through the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD). The DWD worked with school consortiums, employers, the Wisconsin Technical College System, and other partners to modernize the framework and create new pathways. There are now a total of 75 youth apprenticeship program pathways to help industries such as construction, the health sciences, marketing, science and engineering, and transportation find and develop talent. The new occupational pathways in which local employers can offer apprenticeship opportunities to students include:
- Agriculture, food, and natural resources: arborist and dairy grazier;Â
- Architecture and construction: gas distribution technician and heavy equipment;Â
- Arts, audiovisual technology, and communications: media broadcast technician;Â
- Health science: phlebotomist and resident aide;Â
- Information technology: IT broadband technician;
- Manufacturing: electro-mechanical/mechatronics; and
- Transportation, distribution, and logistics: airport operations and management, aviation maintenance, aviation airframe, powerplant technician, and avionics technician.Â
