A new relief package from Gov. Tony Evers seeks to temporarily bar evictions and foreclosures and continue waiving the one-week waiting period for unemployment benefits, according to a statement from the administration. If passed, the package would be the first legislative remedy to curb the state’s pandemic crisis since April.
The bill would also suspend school report cards and standardized testing for the current school year, give health care workers the ability to claim worker’s compensation if they contract COVID-19 while on the job, and require insurers to cover testing, treatment, and the administration of any COVID-19 vaccinations through the end of 2021.
