Through a new round of the Wisconsin Farm Support Program, Gov. Tony Evers will provide an additional $50 million in direct payments to support Wisconsin’s agricultural producers. Last year, Evers distributed $50 million in direct aid to farmers from funding the state received from the federal government to support Wisconsin’s farmers and agricultural industries during the initial stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In announcing the additional aid, Evers noted that many Wisconsin farmers are still grappling with the unprecedented challenges brought on by the pandemic. In recent years, they have faced low commodity prices, and the pandemic brought unexpected shocks to agricultural markets. “They’ve always had our back,” Evers says, “and now, we need to have theirs.”
