Gov. Tony Evers has directed the Department of Administration to identify $250 million in cost savings for the current fiscal year to balance financial responsibilities during COVID-19, according to an administration release.

The cuts are aimed at stabilizing stressed local governments while providing vital services to residents in crisis. The proactive effort comes ahead of additional federal aid to stabilize state and local services, which has yet to gain bipartisan support.
