Back 2 School Free Haircutz will be held this Sunday at the Alliant Energy Center, as it returns for its 17th year, Madison365 reports. The Aug. 24 event will aim to provide 1,000 free haircuts for students ahead of the start of the school year.

The effort was started by JP Hair Design owner Jeff Patterson and brings together roughly 40 barbers for a day-long event. A record 800 haircuts were offered at the event last year, which also offered a variety of back-to-school supplies.

Back 2 School Free Haircutz will also work to bolster public health through a vaccination clinic in partnership with the Dane County Immunization Coalition. Parents will be able to make sure their children are up to date with necessary vaccinations.

The event will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Registration is required.
