The video Our Past Can Shape Our Future, produced by Clean Lakes Alliance and Ho-Chunk Nation, earned five Telly Awards and will be honored at a Madison event this week. Based out of New York, the Telly Awards honor video and television and saw nearly 13,000 entries this year from video and television content producers worldwide.
Clean Lakes Alliance and the Ho-Chunk Nation’s collaborative video was recognized for its portrayal of the history of the Yahara Watershed, treated as sacred by Indigenous people for thousands of years.
Clean Lakes Alliance has established a formal partnership with the Ho-Chunk Nation through an official proclamation. The partnership promotes community education and works to preserve the lakes.
A formal awards event will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 4–5:30 p.m. at The Edgewater Hotel in the Red Crown Club. Prior to the ceremony, there will be a cocktail hour with light appetizers and beverages, and remarks by James Tye, executive director of Clean Lakes Alliance, and Jon Greendeer, president of the Ho-Chunk Nation.
