As plans stall that would have demolished downtown Madison’s Essen Haus and Come Back In, the restaurant and bar in the 500 block of East Wilson Street, along with the neighboring Up North Bar, are planning to resume live music, sand volleyball, and their usual six large events this spring, the Wisconsin State Journal reports.
The city’s Plan Commission voted on Monday to allow live music outdoors on Sundays and Mondays through 9 p.m. from May 15–Sept. 15. It extended permissible hours for sand volleyball, played behind the buildings, through 10:30 p.m. on weeknights. It will continue to end at 9 p.m. on Sundays.
The six large events, held annually by Essen Haus since its opening in 1982, will also take place between May 15–Sept. 15. Maifest in early May and Oktoberfest in mid-September are possible exceptions.
