Verona-based Epic Systems is getting heat for its plan for nearly 10,000 employees to return to the company’s campus by Sept. 21, according to a report from the Wisconsin State Journal. In a statement, Madison Industrial Workers of the World urged the company to allow employees to continue to work from home. Epic employees claim the decision by CEO Judy Faulkner to return to in-person work is ignoring advice from public health officials. And according to a Capital Timesarticle, employees have come forward charging the electronic health records giant with retaliation against workers who have spoken out against Epic’s return-to-work plan with demotions. Beginning Aug. 10, the company plans to bring employees back to work in phases, with the last employees returning by Nov. 2.
