Verona-based Epic Systems Corp. has unveiled new software aimed at providing better access for patients at independent medical practices, according to a Wisconsin State Journalreport. While “Garden Plot” won’t be fully unveiled until August, it is meant to be an answer to the American Medical Association finding in 2020 that nearly half of U.S. physicians worked for independent medical groups. As of 2015, 87% of office-based physicians were using some form of electronic health record system but not all are linked to Epic. According to the company, 250 million patients around the world hold records through Epic.
