Epic enables vaccine status verification with new tech

Verona-based Epic Systems has developed new technology to easily verify a person’s vaccine status and test results, according to a report from Wisconsin State Journal. Users of Epic’s MyChart app can now confirm their vaccine status through machine-readable QR codes generated by the app. UnityPoint Health, SSM Health, and Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin allow patients to access their QR codes through MyChart, and many area businesses are now accepting QR codes for verification. The technology could affect how government entities, businesses, health care providers, and others ensure people are vaccinated without violating their privacy.
