Epic has been overbilling the U.S. government for Medicaid and Medicare, so says a whistleblower who filed a lawsuit in 2015 under the False Claims Act, according to The Capital Times.
The whistleblower claims the Verona-based electronic health records company essentially charges payers twice for anesthesia patients receive.
The Department of Justice had already decided in February not to pursue the case, but the plaintiff maintains there is a “fundamental misunderstanding of how claims software works.”
