The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on Thursday terminated a $7 billion Biden-era grant program to boost solar energy, according to the Associated Press. The program was designed to help pay for residential solar projects for over 900,000 lower-income U.S. households.
The funding, awarded to 60 recipients, including states, tribes and regions for investments like rooftop solar and community gardens, was part of the Biden era’s Solar for All program. Solar, a renewable energy, is broadly regarded as a way to lower energy bills for American consumers and introduce cleaner power to the electrical grid.
Under President Donald Trump, officials have pursued a myriad of deregulatory measures related to federal rules aimed at protecting clean air and water.
The administration has taken steps to bolster fossil fuels in pursuit of American “energy dominance” in the global market.
