The Environmental Protection Agency announced it will spend up to $539,922 to conduct a hazardous waste cleanup at the former Battery and Electronics Recycling Inc. in Mount Horeb, according to a report at Wisbusiness.com.
The effort is expected to take up to five weeks to remove about 75,000 pounds of discarded batteries and 40,500 pounds of hazardous chemicals. The case was referred to the EPA last October due to the cost and size of the cleanup.
