EPA awards Wisconsin $94.3M to replace lead drinking water pipes

The Environmental Protection Agency announced Wednesday it awarded about $2.9 billion from a state revolving loan fund for states to find and replace lead pipes, Wisconsin Public Radio reported 

Wisconsin will receive $94.3 million 

“The Trump EPA is committed to tackling lead exposure and this $2.9 billion will help protect current and future generations by accelerating local efforts to find and replace toxic lead pipes,” EPA Assistant Administrator for Water Jess Kramer said in a statement. 

It is projected that as of 2023, Wisconsin has more than 343,000 lead service lines.
