Safe Skies Clean Water Wisconsin, a group opposed to basing F-35 fighter jets in Madison, has filed a lawsuit against the National Guard, according to a report from the Wisconsin State Journal.
The group claims the National Guard Bureau failed to adequately study and disclose the environmental effects of 27 projects related to replacing the current fleet of F-16s at the 115th Fighter Wing. The projects are set to start in 2021 and the group alleges the National Guard Bureau disregarded the potential impact the projects will have on PFAS chemicals, already to have been found in soil and groundwater under the base.
