Preliminary student count projections showed that fall enrollment dropped at four Universities of Wisconsin branch campuses and rose at three, the Wisconsin State Journal reports.
This year’s overall branch campus enrollment is roughly 2,806, down 25.8% from last year’s 3,784.
Amid recent enrollment declines, UW has either fully closed six branch campuses or stopped offering in-person classes at them over the past three years.
UW-Platteville’s Baraboo campus saw the largest drop this fall of 29.92%. It’s projected to have 126 students this fall, compared to 178 in 2024.
UW-Green Bay’s branch campuses in Manitowoc and Sheboygan were among the three that gained students, with 603 students (up 23.6% from 2024) and 460 students (up 4.8% from 2024), respectively.
The preliminary enrollment estimates are based on first day counts. UW will release more detailed enrollment data at a later date.
