Kraft Heinz, parent of Madison’s Oscar Mayer, announced plans for the plant’s shutdown to begin in phases beginning June 30 and to be completed by March 2017.

Forty-six salaried and 515 hourly workers will lose their jobs as plant operations wind down. When news of the closure was first announced last fall, Oscar Mayer employed about 1,000 employees.
