The charitable arm of the Wisconsin State Journal, the Empty Stocking Club is seeking additional donations to help bring toys to children in need. The organization is roughly one-third of the way to its fundraising goal of $300,000.

Community donations support a two-day Toy Depot that allows parents to shop for free toys for their families. The partnering Madison Reading Project also supplies a book for each child. Families wishing to receive a toy can apply through Dec. 4, and volunteers are still needed.

The Empty Stocking Club gave out over 7,700 toys during last year’s Toy Depot and over 1,000 toys through partner organizations.
