Some employees of Fitchburg’s MOD Pizza said they were left without paychecks after it closed abruptly last month, the Wisconsin State Journal reports.
On March 19, the general manager reportedly notified employees there would be an urgent meeting the next day, and on March 20, the roughly 15 employees who attended were told the restaurant at 2960 Cahill Main would close for good that night.
Employees were reportedly told that everyone would be paid the Saturday following the meeting as long as they turned in their paperwork that Friday; some employees say this did not occur, although one reported receiving $1,300 in severance pay.
District Manager Anthony Ferguson said the matter is being handled by the company’s corporate offices as there are no local owners.
Eleven of the pizza company’s 534 restaurants are located in Wisconsin.The Fitchburg location opened in December 2016.
