Richard L. Chapman, 65, of Janesville, was charged on Feb. 17 with the robbery of the Park Bank, 33 E. Main St., on the Capitol Square, on Feb. 3, according to a report from the Wisconsin State Journal.
Chapman has been sentenced to federal prison twice before for committing bank robberies in Madison, serving sentences of nearly six years and nearly 16 years.
According to the criminal complaint, the robber, later identified as Chapman, entered the bank wearing all black and carrying a Culver’s bag. He handed the teller a note stating the bank was being robbed and that he had a gun.
Chapman was jailed on $10,000 bail after appearing in court Friday.
