MENOMONIE — The smile on Lisa Pelnar’s face said it all.
Pelnar was happy the Dunn County Planning, Resources and Development Committee on Tuesday unanimously recommended against a proposed rezoning between the city of Menomonie and the village of Knapp that would have allowed for a silica sand loading site.
“I’m relieved,” said Pelnar, a resident of the town of Menomonie, where the loading site would be located.
Committee members determined rezoning the 188-acre site, where sand would be loaded onto rail cars, was not consistent with the county’s comprehensive land plan, which calls for the area to remain agricultural.
