Dr. Pete Newcomer, UW Health’s chief operating officer, said the health system’s Eastpark Medical Center has seen an average of 1,000 patients per day in the month since its opening, according to The Capital Times. Newcomer says recent demand at the Madison clinic is indicative of growing regional need.
The clinic is located at 4621 Eastpark Blvd. and integrates multiple specialties in one building. It employs 540 clinical staff and 300 nonclinical staff. Provider specialties include cancer research, dermatology, clinical trials, and women’s health.
The clinic has a technology assistance unit to help patients use electronic charts and at-home health technology, and a telehealth room in each unit to provide consultations for out-of-town patients. It also houses exam rooms with negative airflow for the protection of patients with vulnerable immune systems.
Roughly 12% of patient consultations have occurred over phone or video calls since the clinic’s opening. The integrated women’s care unit at Eastpark saw 850 patients in the first three weeks.
