The Eastmorland Community Center, opened by two east side churches in 2021 inside a 70-year-old church building, has outgrown its current home and is looking to rebuild, WMTV15 reports. The center offers community art classes, support groups, school partnerships and more.
Leaders plan to tear down the current facility, which has basement foundation issues and accessibility limitations, to construct a new more efficient, multiuse space. Plans also include the construction of new workforce housing, which will help fund the Community Center.Â
The new building will have a multipurpose performance area rather than a dedicated sanctuary. The space will be available for other programming throughout the week.Â
While construction is still in the planning stage, a capital campaign is now underway. Click here to learn more.
