The 4.5-acre, mixed-use redevelopment of the 800 block of East Washington Avenue will not include a Metcalfe’s Market grocery store. The proposal was dropped after developer Otto Gebhardt and Metcalfe’s owners Tim and Kevin Metcalfe failed to reach an agreement. Metcalfe’s had also been interested in a rooftop garden at the site. According to reports, Gebhardt will look for another grocer to fill a 50,000-sq.-ft. space in the proposed project, which would also include more than 240 residential units, parking, and retail/commercial/office space.
