A large Madison retail space will soon be left vacant as a result of Texas-based At Home’s recent bankruptcy filing, the Wisconsin State Journal reports.
The store near East Towne Mall is one of 29 stores across the U.S. set to shutter this fall, the filing said.
At Home will retain 260 stores after the closures, including a 106,000-square-foot location on Madison’s far west side that opened in 2019, replacing a Sam’s Club.
Among other nearby closures are a store on Mayfair Road in the Milwaukee suburb of Wauwatosa and stores in Minnesota and Illinois.
At Home has not yet announced whether more closures will follow as it navigates the bankruptcy court proceedings. The company cited tariffs, shipping costs and other “retail specific market pressures.”
