East side Madison’s Ohio Tavern will have new ownership following money and other issues over recent years, the Wisconsin State Journal reports. Two established Madison bar owners — Ross Hubbard, a partner with Afterschock Classic Arcade, and Ryan Schultz, the owner of Baldwin Street Grille and Breakwater in Monona — will take the helm.
Hubbard and Schultz do not plan to make major changes to the establishment at 224 Ohio Ave. and will retain its menu. The spot is known for its tacos, karaoke nights, and outdoor patio, and dates back to the Prohibition era.
Court records show that the Ohio and its prior owner, Josh Swentzel, have been the subject of repeated tax and workforce complaints in recent years.
