East side Madison hotels’ managers and staff are reporting increased bookings during the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee, according to WKOW. The news could suggest an economic ripple effect from the event across Wisconsin.

The Sleep Inn & Suites and the MainStay Suites along Tradewinds Parkway, both managed by Bob Patel, are among those that have reported a recent increase in business. The MainStay Suites was fully booked prior to the RNC’s last day on Thursday. Both hotels also saw a rush of checkouts on Thursday, and managers and staff said the increase in bookings fits a pattern for east side hotels when Milwaukee hosts a large event.

Downtown hotels reported no noticeable difference in their average vacancy rates for this time of year.
