There is apparently some funny money going around, as the owner of Trixie’s Liquor, a Madison liquor store off East Washington Avenue, says he has seen an increase in counterfeit bills this summer, according to a report from NBC15.
Chris Welch told the station that he’s come across “funny money” before, but recently he has noticed a marked increase of counterfeits — seven or eight this summer.
Specifically, he’s seen real currency that has been bleached, then reprinted to be a higher denomination.
