The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) on Thursday released the preliminary August employment estimates from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Preliminary employment estimates showed that Wisconsin’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained at 3.1% — 1.2 percentage points below the national unemployment rate of 4.3%.
The state’s labor force participation rate ticked down to 64.8%, while the national rate increased slightly to 62.3%.
Wisconsin’s labor force decreased by 7,100 over the month and 36,900 over the year.
The number of people employed decreased 6,000 over the month to 3,045,400 employed, down 40,400 over the year.
Total nonfarm jobs increased 8,600 over the month and 22,800 over the year to 3,068,700 jobs.
