The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development announced Thursday it has opened applications for a new employer grant program.

The Wisconsin Training for Resilient Advanced Industry Needs is supported by approximately $7 million in federal funding secured by Gov. Tony Evers’ administration.

The grant program will be used to help train workers in advanced manufacturing and AI. It will fund training programs, apprenticeships, pre-apprenticeship programs and more.

“Artificial intelligence and advances in digital technology are already changing the way we work, and the WisTRAIN grant is a valuable opportunity to help employers and workers keep up with changing technology in the workplace,” DWD Secretary Amy Pechacek said in a statement. “Wisconsin led the nation with the Governor’s Task Force on Workforce and Artificial Intelligence and successfully secured this competitive funding to focus on advancing skills and building opportunities for workers in the new 21st-century economy.”
