The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development is closing job center locations statewide effective Wednesday, March 25, in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19, according to a department release.
Individuals filing for unemployment will need to visit a website or speak to a representative over the phone for resources and information. Additionally, the department is waiving work search requirements in response to Gov. Tony Evers’ “safer at home” order.
More than 30,000 unemployment insurance claims were made in the state between Sunday, March 22 and Monday, March 23. During the same two days in 2019, 2,500 claims were filed.
