Mark Papko, set to become the new director of the Dane County Regional Airport, comes with over 20 years’ experience working at airports nationwide, most recently in Duluth, Minnesota, the Wisconsin State Journal reports. His new position marks a return to the airport where he interned in 2013, and the appointment is scheduled for Airport Commission approval on Wednesday.

Papko replaces recently-retired Kim Jones. Jones left in April following an internal investigation that prompted questions about her performance since assuming the post in 2018.

Papko was selected by Dane County Executive Melissa Agard after a nationwide search. His starting salary will be $239,000, according to his contract, and pending county board approval, he will begin his new role July 9.
