The Food and Drug Administration announced on Monday that it expanded approval of pill Addyi, which is for boosting female libido, the Associated Press reports.
The new approval said women over the age of 65 who have gone through menopause can now take the pill.
Addyi was first approved a decade ago for premenopausal women.
The new approval is much-debated, and the drug has a history of causing side effects like dizziness and nausea.
The FDA rejected Addyi twice prior to its 2015 approval, citing the drug’s modest effectiveness and side effects. The approval came after a lobbying campaign by the company and its supporters.
