Dr. Frank Byrne, president emeritus of SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital, will moderate two panel discussions at In Business magazine’s first annual Health Care Summit. During the morning program, he will be joined by industry experts who will share insight into the future of health care and its impact on employers. The summit will be held on Tuesday, May 14, from 8–11:30 a.m., at the Madison Concourse Hotel.
Byrne has served as president emeritus since January 2015 and was president of St. Mary’s Hospital from 2004–2015. During Byrne’s tenure at the 440-bed hospital, St. Mary’s completed a $182 million expansion and became the first health care organization to earn the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. In 2011, Byrne was recognized by Modern Healthcare and Modern Physician magazines as one of the 50 Most Influential Physician Executives in Health Care.
As Byrne explains, the forthcoming summit will explore how employers can approach historic change in the health care industry. “We all need access to health care personally, and many leadership roles are required to ensure access to care for their colleagues,” Byrne states. “Like many industries, health care is in the midst of transformational and disruptive change, with both traditional and new options for care and for insurance and payment for services.
“Attendees will better understand current health care options and trends and have insight into how they can meet their professional and personal needs.”
In morning panel discussions, the Health Care Summit will explore “The Health Care Forecast: What to Expect in 2025 and Beyond” and “Navigating Health Care Costs: Strategies for Businesses.” The summit is sponsored by UnityPoint Health–Meriter Hospital, an integrated community health system in Madison, and Quartz Health Solutions Inc. in Fitchburg, which offers group and individual health insurance plans.
