The Democratic Party of Wisconsin (DPW) announced that it will be conducting a large reduction in force in Madison and Milwaukee after the conclusion of the 2024 presidential election. The action is expected to result in the permanent elimination of 249 employees — including 125 salary and 124 hourly positions. The position eliminations are expected to begin on Nov. 15 and conclude by Nov. 30.
Additionally, the following business locations will be permanently closed by Nov. 30:
-
1137 N. Sherman Ave., Madison;
-
314 Junction Road, Madison;

633 W. Main St., Madison; and
-
1021 W. National Ave., Milwaukee.
These reductions and closures are consistent with the cycle-based nature of a political organization, as workload and office space needs for nonpresidential election years are greatly reduced.
DPW does not have bumping rights with respect to the elimination of any represented positions. DPW will ensure that employees will be paid all earned wages and agreed upon benefits at the time of their termination.
