The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) on Friday announced that it is seeking sponsors to support its Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), WMTV15 reports. The program provides healthy meals to children facing economic disadvantages and living in rural areas during the summer months, when they do not have access to school meals.
Partnerships between school districts and area organizations facilitate an extension of the SFSP beyond summer school programs. Potential sponsors include:
-
Public or private;
-
Nonprofit school food authorities or summer camps;
Advertisement -
Units of local, municipal, county, Tribal, or state governments;
-
Private nonprofit organizations with certain special considerations and restrictions; or
-
Public or private colleges and universities currently participating in National Youth Sports and Precollege Programs.
SFSP sponsors reportedly served more than 2.8 million meals in 2024. Those interested must submit a sponsor application by June 15.
