The Old Fashioned restaurant, at 23 N Pinckney St. in Madison, has set up a GoFundMe page with a goal of raising $75,000, according to a Wisconsin State Journalreport. While the restaurant says it is not in danger of closing, it has had to lay off most of its employees, and they now employ only 24 of the 108 original staff.
The restaurant has been busy with carryout and delivery during the pandemic but needs the fundraising effort to help them pay and provide health care for their remaining employees. The Old Fashioned is one of several downtown restaurants that have initiated fundraising efforts to offset the financial impacts of COVID-19.
