A Madison Transit and Parking Commission subcommittee is considering hiking downtown parking rates, which haven’t seen an increase since 2012, according to a story in the Wisconsin State Journal.
The commission is mulling raising residential parking permits from $21 to $28 and increasing downtown street meters by 25 cents to $2.00 per hour.
Also facing possible increase are the Government East ramp by 30 cents to $1.80 an hour, and the Overture Center garage by 35 cents to $1.10 an hour. Monroe Street meters could increase 10 cents to $1.30 an hour.
A public meeting is set for March 9. The commission expects to decide on the matter in April and implement any changes later this year.
